Beanseeker is a subscription service for businesses listed, but while it is in beta, it's free for all users.
We are currently focusing efforts on cafés in Melbourne, Australia but are also seeking interest in other businesses and locations too and hope to expand much further. If your business serves or roasts specialty coffee, we'd love to hear from you! Register your venue via this link.
Only venues offering specialty coffee are permitted on the Beanseeker platform. Whilst it is recognised that specialty coffee is that which (among other criteria) is scored 80+ according to the SCAA cupping protocol, we cannot automatically enforce this as there is no practical means to automatically validate an entered score or that formal guidelines took place. Instead, we prefer a "transparency" approach that clearly identifies the producer(s) and roaster involved, and has identifiable flavour characteristics (taste profile). In many cases, "single origin" coffee is actually specialty coffee.
From our perspective, specialty coffee is all about preserving quality from farm to cup, whilst ensuring that the producers are fairly rewarded for their efforts. If your venue isn't currently using specialty coffee, we encourage you to learn about it, beginning at sca.org or at Wikipedia.
We are always on the lookout for new ways to improve, and this is an area that we will be developing further in collaboration with the coffee industry.
We don't yet have a native app for mobile devices, but it is planned! In the meantime, the web app is available at beanseeker.au, and supports all the capabilities we currently have on offer, including location awareness. Just be sure to allow the location permission, if you want to use the full functionality!
